Habit 1: Step Tracking
10 Core Points maximum per day
Key Fact: 25 minutes of walking per day can increase your lifespan by 7 years
These days, everybody walks around with a mobile phone in their pocket, and by default every step you take is tracked and logged in your phone's memory. Walking is something that we often take for granted, often we opt to drive, taxi or take our electric scooter even on the shortest of journeys, but walking is, and always will be our most reliable way of getting around!
The Core Direction app seamlessly connects with your phone's pedometer and tracks these steps and turns them into Core Points (which we’ll come onto later). Core Direction rewards you for taking steps, going for a walk is often the most frictionless, easiest way to get yourself out of the house and get your body moving. Going for a walk is also a great way to clear the mind or even ponder over important life choices.
All in all, walking is a great habit towards a fitter, healthier happier you and building walks into your daily routine is a sure fire way to #THRIVE.
Habit 2: Active Heart Rate Monitor
10 Core Points maximum per day
Key Fact: Engaging in regular 30-minute elevated heart rate exercise can actually increase your energy levels throughout the day.
The heart is the body’s engine, so keeping it strong and healthy should be top on your lists of priorities! But what is an Active Heart Rate?
Heart rate is measured in BPM or beats per minute and scientists have found that our heart benefits from exercise the most when our heart rate reaches our Active Zone. The active zone is different for each person and if you want to find out how to calculate your Active Heart Rate Zone click here. Similarly to Steps, Core Direction will award you for every 3 minutes that your Heart Rate is above your Active Zone.
This means you can earn Core Points from any activity and not just those where you clock up steps, for example, swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates, HIIT and the list goes on. This is another way we like to keep you motivated and reward you exercising no matter what your preferred method of exercise is!

Habit 3: Add Activity
7 Core Points maximum per day
The Add Activity feature is your personal fitness & wellness calendar. Plan your daily activities and get reminders so you never miss a beat. While creating activities you can choose from over 50 activity types as well as invite your friends to join you. The Core Direction #inspiringmovement starts with you so we will give you an additional 4 points if you invite a friend and they accept your activity invite!
Remember, if you fail to prepare then prepare to fail! Planning your activities throughout the week is a great way to keep yourself on track and motivated and inviting friends to workout with you is sometimes the only motivation you need to get out of the house and get moving!
Habit 4: Watch Wellness Content On-Demand
3 Core Points maximum per day
Ever find yourself aimlessly scrolling through YouTube, Instagram or TikTok in an endless cycle that can’t be stopped… that’s a silly question, it happens to every single one of us! That’s part of the reason we created our On-Demand feature. On-Demand is a curated collection of Wellness videos that range from Inspiring Talks, Podcasts, Guided Meditations & Breathwork, Online workout classes and more. This content has been given the green light by our wellness experts so you can be sure they are providing industry approved advice and guidelines!
So next time you’re passing the time by binge watching videos, choose On-Demand, educate & inspire yourself and earn yourself up to 3 points per day!
Habit 5: Challenges
Challenges are designed to ignite the competitive spark that exists in all of us. This is where Core Points come into play. For all your efforts in the Core Direction app you are awarded Core Points. Each day you may earn up to 10 points from any of the 5 scoring methods. The app will take your highest score from 1 of the 5 scoring metrics and that will be our total score, the goal is to get the maximum 10 points a day.
All of these points are then added onto your total score for any challenges you are entered into, you can visit the challenge leaderboard and see how you fare against the rest of the Core Direction community and most importantly against your friends!
Challenges & Leaderboards are designed to keep you motivated through competition but also the chance to win prizes & earn incentives, for most public and premium challenges, you’ll be entered into a prize draw if you score over 150 points or more during the month.
The key to nailing challenges is consistency. Do something everyday to get the maximum points for a challenge and rise to the top of the leaderboard!
Habit 6: Breathwork
Life starts with your first breath and ends with your last, but we rarely put much thought into all the breaths in between! Our guided breathwork feature will take you through exercises that can calm the mind, reduce anxiety, eliminate stress and leave you feeling relaxed and ready to seize the day. There is a reason why people have practiced meditation and breathwork for thousands of years and if you’re yet to try it, here’s your chance.
Building a short breathwork practice into your routine really can have a profound effect on your life, happiness and wellbeing. There are two types of breathing available in the Core Direction app, Box breathing & Resonance Breathing and they can be tracked through our Breathwork streaks to keep you motivated!
Habit 7: Sleep
Key Fact: Getting enough sleep supports a healthy immune system and reduces the risk of developing chronic conditions like heart disease and diabetes.
Sleep. Some people are asleep before their head hits the pillow, while others can really struggle. For the latter a nighttime routine is the key to a better sleep but getting at least 7 hours of sleep per night is generally accepted as the norm.
Each morning you wake, Core will ask you if you got your 7 hours, click yes and add another day to your sleep streak. Prioritizing your sleep is a key step to a fitter, healthier, happier you, after all that grumpy tired person is not really you!
Habit 8: Water Intake
Key Fact: Avoiding Dehydration can increase short term memory and enhances focus & reaction times.
Water truly is the elixir of life and I don’t think we need to go into its importance and effects on the human body being well hydrated. The generally accepted amount of water is 8 glasses per day, but this may differ depending on your exercise level, it’s always better to have too much rather than too little.
The Core Direction app has a built in water tracking feature where you can log each glass to make sure you hit your goals of 8 glasses per day. Just like the others, you can build a water intake streak that will keep you motivated towards that 8 glasses goal!
